Indian Stock Market Report: August 25, 2026
Indian equity markets staged a solid recovery in late-afternoon trading on Tuesday, August 25, 2026. Reversing early morning losses caused by elevated global crude oil prices and Middle East geopolitical tensions, late buying across Healthcare, Consumer Durables, IT, and Auto stocks helped benchmark indices close firmly in the green.
The benchmark NSE Nifty 50 gained 115.50 points (+0.48%) to close at 24,334.55, while the BSE Sensex rose 286.98 points (+0.37%) to settle at 77,656.09. However, the Bank Nifty remained largely flat, edging down by 11.75 points (-0.02%) to finish at 57,514.20 due to mixed sentiment in banking majors.
Market Summary & Sector Performance
The session was marked by sector rotation and stock-specific action. Healthcare and Consumer Durables outperformed the rest of the market, rising nearly 1% each. IT and Auto counters provided additional upward support. On the flip side, Energy, Metal, and Private Banking stocks faced mild profit-booking and closed lower.
